  • We don’t want very many posed photos, will you be trying to pose us?

My photographic style is very much documentary and lifestyle, but occasionally those beautiful lifestyle moments need a bit of help.  I love real moments and avoid anything that looks stuffy or too ‘posed’.  I do assist with posing, but make those poses look life-like and realistic.

  • Are you a ‘real’ photographer?

While I am learning and perfecting my craft every day, I am an insured, tax-paying professional photographer and real business.

  • How long have you been shooting?

My father is a professional storm photographer, so cameras have been my life.  Though I still love storm chasing, I prefer photographing people. I’ve been full time with my photography business for 7 years.

  • Will you travel to me?

MOST DEFINITELY! I love traveling – just get in touch with me and we will work out details!

  • How do we book you for our big day?

First, let’s meet for coffee, tea or even a brew (I love craft beer!) and go over the vision for your dream wedding.  If you can’t meet, I’d be happy to Skype or schedule a phone chat!  Take a few moments to scroll through my website, Instagram and Facebook page & check if you like what you see.  Once you’ve chosen a Collection, a 30% retainer is due to secure your date and that is due within 48 hours of me sending you the contract.  The remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding date.

  • Do we have to feed you?

There’s an (not very nice) article circling around about how wedding couple’s don’t need to feed their photographer.  Let me just say, I get hungry.  I’m on my feet for hours & hours, carrying heavy gear and documenting the most important day of your lives!  And, wedding days tend to be pretty intense emotionally and physically!  To keep me running at optimum, I do require at least a 30 minute break for my second-photographer and I to grab food and eat.  I have severe food allergies and carry an epi-pen with me, so unless you are serving a vegan meal (I am allergic to dairy, pork and beef) I will bring my own lunch, and my second will eat what your guests are being served.

  • How long does it take to get our photos?  How do you deliver them?

Normally, I have my weddings edited and delivered via an online gallery within 4-6 weeks – during the busy season, it can take up to 8 weeks.  If you choose a collection with a USB, images will be delivered via the online gallery first, and your USB will be mailed out shortly after your gallery has gone live.

  • How do you edit our photos?  Do you edit all the images?

I try to keep things minimal and lifelike. Each photo is retouched to correct color, exposure and I re-touch blemishes.  I won’t be adding a extreme sunset to a dreary sky or a dinosaur chasing you down a path (unless you’d like to pay for the extra editing).  My digital images are edited to match real film scans.  I edit all of your images to give you a cohesive gallery; no raw or unedited photos are delivered.

  • How many photos will we receive?

I don’t promise a set number, but roughly – an 8 hour wedding will produce a full gallery of approximately 400+ images.  I strive for quality over quantity.

  • Do you have backup gear?

Absolutely and I never travel to any wedding or session without it!

  • We don’t want black & white photos, can you be sure to deliver only colored photos?

In short, no.  Some images are intentionally shot for black and white coloring, and part of hiring me is trusting me and my style with delivering you a gorgeous gallery of photos.  While you won’t get all, or even 75% black & white photos, there will be some in your gallery.

  • What is your favorite part of the wedding day to photograph?

Most definitely the bride & groom portraits.  While the getting ready, ceremony, reception and general ‘story of the day’ photos are WONDERFUL — the wedding day is about 2 people, you 2 people, committing your lives together.  I know getting back to the fun of the reception is priority, however, I ask that you set aside at least 30-45 minutes on your wedding day, for just the two of you, to fall in love all over again in front of my camera.  These aren’t “smile and say cheese” images, but real, organic & emotional photos that you’ll want on your wall.  Just think about it for a moment, do you want a picture of your cake to hang on the bedroom wall, or a lasting portrait, evidence of the deep love you share?   I mean, even if you love cake as much as I do, I think you’re going to go for the portrait.  You won’t regret it!

  • “The Knot told me to ask you these 2,753,308 questions, so, let me start with number 1…”

I’m happy to answer any and all questions you may have for me!  BUT, your wedding day is about you and what YOU want.  Not what a generic website suggests for you to do.  Have fun, be real!  Look through my photos.  Chances are, if you like what you’re seeing here, then we have a similar vision for your day and we’d probably be something like BFFs.

  • I’m on a budget, can you match another photographer’s pricing?

My clients hire me because they’ve seen my work and love what they see; it’s an investment for the most important day of your life!  Occasionally, during off seasons, I can work with a budget – so feel free to contact me to discuss details.  Most of my wedding clients invest at least $4000 when hiring me.  However, if you’re just looking for price matching and the cheapest photographer you can find, I am not the photographer for you.
